  • Next came Rome (32 destinations), Málaga (30), London and Palermo (27 each), Bari and Bologna (25) and Venice (24).
  • The cheapest return trips cost around €25–30: the lowest from Milan was Barcelona at €25.17.

  • This is a snapshot: fares change every few hours, so use them to see what to expect, not as live deals.

For each departure city you'll find how many different destinations had at least one return flight under €50 per person, departing in roughly the following four months, plus the three cheapest examples. Each city name links to a page with all its destinations sorted by budget.

Berlin (Germany)7Bergamo €35.98, Birmingham €39.98, Budapest €39.98

Two things stand out. First, the big low-cost bases, such as Milan with Bergamo, London and Rome, give you far more choice than anywhere else. Second, many of the cheapest trips link two low-cost bases: Milan with Barcelona and Málaga, or London with Alicante and Lanzarote. These routes have lots of flights and lots of seats, so low fares turn up more often.

Flying from a city with fewer low-cost routes doesn't rule you out: Berlin still had 7 destinations under €50, only with examples closer to €40 than €30.

How to find a return flight under €50

A €30 return fare rarely lands on the exact weekend you've already circled in your calendar. It goes to people who leave themselves some room. Here's what really helps:

  • Be flexible with your dates: look at whole weeks or months, not a single day. Moving your outbound or return by one day can change the total a lot.
  • Go midweek: leaving on a Tuesday or Wednesday usually gives you more choice than a Friday evening departure and a Sunday return.
  • Aim for 2–5 nights: that's the trip length where it's easiest to find both legs cheap, and it's plenty for a long weekend.
  • Count every airport in your city: in Milan, Bergamo often makes the difference; London has several airports. Just factor in the cost of getting there.
  • Travel with hand luggage only: the fares in the table are base fares with a small bag; a checked bag can cost as much as the ticket.
  • Set a budget alert: rather than checking every evening, pick your departure city and a price cap and get notified when a flight fits.

To see where you can go right now for €50, FlyDown's home page has a search that starts from your budget and shows the destinations available; there's also a where to fly on your budget page for each city. If you're aiming even lower, the guide to flights under 20 euros covers the methods that work.

Weekends under €50: what to check before you book

The flight is only part of the cost. Check how much it costs to get into town from the arrival airport, since some airports are a long way from the city they're named after: Charleroi, for example, is about an hour from Brussels. And always compare the final total before paying: seat selection, airport check-in and pre-ticked extras can change the bill.

How we counted

  • This is a snapshot of fares read by FlyDown on 30 September 2026 on the airlines' own websites.
  • FlyDown covers low-cost airlines: Ryanair, Wizz Air, easyJet, Vueling, Volotea, Transavia and Sky Express (plus Neos and Air Transat for long haul).
  • Prices are base fares, per person, return total, flight only: bags cost extra.
  • FlyDown follows the cities its users watch, so the data is richest for those (many of them Italian). Other cities and other airlines may offer more options than those counted here.
  • We'll update this guide with fresh data.
